| What is Gateway? |
| |
For Buying: |
| |
Gateway is a Direct-Connect option for travel sites, dot-coms who want to tap into our Columbus Central Reservation System (CRS) to obtain hotel content, rates and availability. This will in turn allow them to offer these rates and availability to their consumers on their websites to book. |
| |
| |
For Selling: |
| |
Supranational ‘s hotel members can use Gateway to build their own booking engine for their own websites, by their IT/web design team, to achieve their desired look and feel. The XML links to the Gateway will channel the corresponding content stored in our CRS into their pages. |
| |
| How does Gateway benefit hotels? |
| |
Coverage |
| |
Gateway widens the on-line presence of hotel members to internet channels who may not be on Pegasus’ ODD (On-line Distribution Database). |
| |
| |
Lower Cost of Booking |
| |
Bookings coming directly from travel web sites to Columbus via Gateway do not incur GDS/IDS only Supranational’s fees and look-to-book fee. In order to encourage members, we will offer a discount on the Supranational fees too! |
| |
| |
Higher Efficiency |
| |
Some hotel members are already working with travel websites directly by updating data on extranets. Gateway can replace this work and hotels can manage everything at Columbus. This will save hotels' time, resources and will improve efficiency. |
| |
| How does Gateway benefit on-line travel sites? |
| |
These websites can gain access to over 1,300 hotels’ inventory with one link, saving them time and resources. They do not need to contract hotels directly, or maintain any data on their own system. This XML link is based on industrial standard specifications and therefore easy to implement. Financially, these websites can earn commission from bookings made by their consumers. They can also benefit from a revenue sharing scheme with Supranational, out of their bookings made. If they have been offered negotiated rates by hotels via their extranet, these rates can also be distributed on Columbus, via Gateway with viewership restrictions. |
| |
| How does Supranational benefit? |
| |
Gateway enables Supranational to offer wider booking channels for members, especially in the leisure market. We expect a good proportion of these travel websites linking to Gateway to be leisure travellers. |
| |
| How does a travel website connect to Gateway? |
| |
|
| |
- Sign and fax or e-mail the Agreement back to Supranational.
|
| |
|
| |
- Our Gateway team, will also issue a Test login to the travel website (the Affiliate).
|
| |
- The Affiliate’s team uses the Specifications and login to build the XML link and test book, supported by our Gateway team.
|
| |
- Upon completion, the test will be signed-off by both parties.
|
| |
- A Gateway Affiliate Agreement to be signed between Supranational and the Affiliate.
|
| |
Project goes live! |
| |
| What else can Gateway do? |
| |
Gateway can also be used to build a booking engine for a hotel(s). Content, rates and availability of selected hotel(s) will be transmitted via Gateway, to populate the booking engine pages. |
| |
| Gateway booking costs to hotels |
| |
This is to be confirmed but we envisage a fee of U$5.50 per net booking (not room night) plus look-to-book. |
| |
| Help required by hotel members |
| |
Gateway is beneficial to everybody and therefore it is very important for hotel members to help us, by telling us which websites they currently work with directly, not via Supranational or GDS. We can then contact these websites and offer them Gateway. This will also help all members because there will be websites with which hotel members are not currently working. Gateway will help bring more partners together to increase bookings! |
| |
| Extra Benefits |
| |
Finally, when there are a number of travel websites linked to Gateway, hotels can offer them the same rate (rate parity) for the same product. By setting up these rates in Columbus under the same level, they are linked. Hotels can then update this rate level according to yield and occupancy, and this change will trigger the same rate change on all the rates linked to this rate level, effectively giving hotels an easy channel management tool. |
